Ben spent eight years in the British Army Intelligence Corps and deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, working alongside special forces and the Gurkhas. In Helmand Province, he sat across from a man who had agreed to die. A suicide bomber. That conversation took fifteen years to fully understand. The bomber had been brainwashed. Handed a story about who he was before he was old enough to question it, he lived into it without a second thought. Ben eventually realised he had done exactly the same thing. Not with ideology. With ambition. He had been handed a story about success built around money, status, and the appearance of having it together, and he had worn the mask without ever knowing he was wearing it. He built the business, the bank account, the image. And at 2am, with nothing left to distract him, he found himself asking the only question that actually mattered: is this it?
